Municipal elections set property taxes, decide road priorities, control land use, and fund local services. They are the level of government closest to everyday life — and they consistently attract the lowest turnout of any election type in Ontario.
In 2022, London's citywide turnout hit 25.5% — down from 39% in 2018. That means roughly three in four eligible London voters did not participate at all in deciding who would make decisions about their street, their neighbourhood, and their tax bill for the next four years.
Ward 13 is not different. A small fraction of eligible voters decides who represents all of them.
