Residents are paying more. The question is what they are getting for it. If taxes rise, City Hall should be able to point to the service, project or result that improved.
My Plan · Where I Stand
Taxes & Spending
Before City Hall asks for more, show what the last increase actually delivered.
The answer
Here’s the issue. Here’s my answer. Here’s what I’d do.
I will not support a tax increase until the community has seen clear, visible results on commitments already made. Not another plan. Not another announcement. Actual results. This doesn't mean I'll never support any increase under any circumstance — the burden of proof sits with City Hall, not the taxpayer.
Before asking taxpayers for more, show what the last increase delivered and what the next dollar is supposed to change.
