MIXED / OPEN DECISIONS

Transit & Mobility

If your shift starts at 8:00, a bus that is routinely late is not a transit metric. It can mean being late for work. Reliability has to be measured from the rider’s side of the stop.

WHAT I WOULD PUSH FOR / REVIEW

Judge LTC by whether riders can depend on the trip. Judge BRT by actual travel-time savings. Review bike lanes street by street with the people who use and live on those streets. On e-scooters, use injury, sidewalk and enforcement data before the next vote.

WHAT RIDERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE

On-time numbers that improve, a BRT trip that is actually faster, cycling routes with a winter plan, and scooter rules people can see being enforced.

THE TRIP FROM THE RIDER’S SIDE

Reliability first. Then judge the specific mode.

Bus reliability, rapid transit, fares, walking, cycling and e-scooters are not one mobility decision. Each should be judged against the experience, evidence and trade-offs of that specific file.

ON THIS MODE

Fares

Fare policy remains open. Do not promise a freeze without showing how the operating cost is funded.

OPEN DECISION

Fare policy remains open until the operating cost and funding path are visible.

ON THIS MODE

Cycling

Judge cycling street by street with the people who live and work there, including winter clearing, deliveries and whether the route will actually be used.

OPEN DECISION

Cycling decisions are to be judged street by street, including winter, delivery and resident/business impacts.

ON THIS MODE

E-scooters

Judge the next e-scooter decision on injuries, sidewalk use and whether the rules are actually enforced.

OPEN DECISION

The next decision should use injury, sidewalk-use and enforcement evidence.

OPEN DECISION

What I still need to see before deciding.

A fare freeze remains open. E-scooters remain a test for the next decision. Cycling is to be judged street by street with delivery, winter and resident/business impacts visible.

What Council controls — and what transit operations control

Council controls the municipal funding and governance framework. Transit management runs day-to-day service. One councillor can move standards, reporting and budget conditions but cannot personally operate the system.

Move for public reliability standards and reporting, use Council's funding and governance decisions to require the appropriate public information, and press the interim London Transit Commission for the service-side response. Management still runs routes and daily operations.

GO DEEPER

Plans, motions and supporting material.

The main answer stays here. Open the deeper file when you want the mechanism, motion, proposal or supporting record.
